‘No one is going to play this mean girls game with you, no one likes a mean girl’: New hire Alexa targets younger coworker Carrie’s crush and gossips behind her back, uniting whole department against her

Here's a universally good advice for the workplace: "Thou shalt not mistake thine office for a reboot of Mean Girls," but some people just can't resist the urge to turn the conference room into the cafeteria at North Shore High. Meet Alexa, new to the department and operating under the impression that the decision of who climbs the corporate ladder is judged by how many DMs you can steal and whose crush you can sabotage before lunch. You'd think a positive environment, where drama is strictly BYO, might chill her out, but no, Alexa has apparently decided to speedrun a masterclass in office villainy.

First, she flirts with Randy, the department's resident Aaron Samuels, mostly because she spots another coworker, sweet, harmless, just-out-of-high-school Carrie, catching feelings for him. Alexa's response? Turn every chance encounter into an episode of "Watch Me, Carrie," complete with dramatic texting, scene-stealing hugs, and enough petty interruptions to power an entire series of reality TV reunions. If only she brought this much energy to her actual job duties, but nope, her performance reviews don't reward drama queen points.

When Carrie quietly removes herself from Alexa's orbit rather than go full out on teenage rage, Alexa suddenly wants to know, with puppy eyes and innocent tones, why Carrie won't talk to her anymore. But it's too late, the rest of the team picks up on Alexa's antics, cuts her out of the fun, and only talks to her when absolutely necessary. The result: Alexa's running out of "friends," clout, and soon, employment.
